Welcome to your NumBots Trial!

During your trial we want you to witness every pupil achieving the “triple win” of understanding, recall and fluency in mental addition and subtraction, so that they move from counting to calculating.

Whether you’re using your trial to support maths intervention or grow maths mastery across your entire class – we hope you have an incredible trial experience!

Getting started

Find everything you need to hit the ground running with NumBots!

1

SET PASSWORD AND LOG IN

Click the link in the email we sent to set your password, then log in using your email address and password. Once you’ve done that you’ll be taken to the NumBots Dashboard, which will look quite empty for now…

2

ADD TEACHERS

Go to Account > Teachers. Click on the ‘Add Teacher’ button and fill in the requested information. They will receive an email with a link for them to set their password. If your colleagues already have TTRS accounts, they can log in using the same details.

3

ADD PUPILS

Go to Account > Classes and click the “Add Student” button. You can upload pupils via spreadsheet or individually, one at a time.

That’s it! You and your class are ready to explore NumBots!

How will your pupils play?

Pupils can access NumBots via our mobile app which is free to download on all devices. This means they can play at home or at school!

Alternatively, bookmark play.numbots.com to play on a computer, using a web browser.

Have a look at the game

Watch this video to familiarise yourself with the platform.

You can also try the game out for yourself by clicking the PLAY button in the header. (All levels will be unlocked for teachers.)

Time to launch!

1. Ensure you upload your pupils to NumBots

2. Print out and cut up their username labels, ready to hand out

NumBots Pro Tips

Get the most out of your NumBots trial with these customisations and pro tips.

Pro Tip 1

SET AN ACTIVITY GOAL

We recommend children play NumBots for 3 minutes a day, 5 days a week. If your pupils use NumBots outside the classroom, you’ll want to know how much they are playing.
Use Activity Goals to set the number of minutes you expect your pupils to play each week. When they log in, your pupils will see how many minutes they have remaining this week – while you’ll easily be able to identify which pupils have been meeting their targets, in the ‘Activity Record’ table.

Pro Tip 3

RELAX THE TIME CONSTRAINTS

There will be individual pupils for whom the time constraints required to pass a Story level are demonstrably too tough. In these cases, you can simply relax the time constraints.

Learn how to give pupils up to 3x longer to complete a level.

Pro Tip 2

SKIP EARLY LEVELS

We think it’s best for all pupils to start at the very beginning of Story Mode – on Rust Level 1. This way, pupils reaffirm the foundations of maths, make connections between easier and more difficult questions, and are more motivated by the in-game rewards. However, if your pupils are already fluent at the early skills, you can let them skip the first topics in Story Mode.

Learn how to customise the Story Controls.

Pro Tip 4

ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES

We know that some pupils may require adjustments to NumBots in order for them to get the most out of it.

There are a choice of different colour schemes, including high contrast colour settings, the option to have questions read aloud, and support for screenreaders.

Learn more about our accessibility features.

Track your pupils’ progress

NumBot’s teacher reports provide powerful formative analysis. Find out which pupils are underplaying, struggling to pass a level or nailing things in the ‘Stats’ section of your dashboard. Our teacher reports push this information to the front so you only need to dip in for 5-10 minutes per week. Quick and easy to inform your planning and resourcing.

Teacher reports are split into 3 areas of tracking progress – here’s a quick breakdown of how each area works.

Celebrate their achievements

NumBots’ Certificate Hub is an incredibly versatile resource which enables you to celebrate a range of pupil achievements. Create a fully customised pack of certificates – then return each week, month or term to download the up-to-date certificates, auto-populated with the winning pupils’ names, in just one click! Whether you want to recognise pupils’ progress, effort or mathematical fluency, and award certificates for high scores or most improvement – that’s up to you!

While you’re handing the certificates out, play the accompanying ‘Awards Ceremony’ presentation. Personalised with the winning pupils’ names, it makes an exciting addition to school award assemblies.

FAQ

Are we limited to the number of pupils we can upload?

There is no limit to the number of pupils who can use NumBots during your trial.

Can I pay by invoice?

Yes – on the billing form you’ll have the choice between credit card and invoice.

I already have Times Tables Rock Stars, can I get a pro-rated cost for NumBots so the expiry dates line up?

Yes – on the purchase page, you can calculate the pro-rata cost for NumBots

What happens if we can't pay the invoice before the trial ends?

No problem. Please aim to pay the invoice by the due date even if that’s after the trial has ended and the subscription has begun.

When does the subscription start?

Your subscription will begin as soon as your trial ends, so access will be uninterrupted.

Can I enter a purchase order number?

Yes, if you wish but it’s not mandatory. There’s space on the billing form for you to enter the PO number if you opt to pay by invoice.

Will I have to re-upload pupils that I setup for the trial if I subscribe?

No, as long as the school subscribes within 90 days of the trial expiring. If your trial expired over 90 days ago, pupil data will have been deleted so you will have to re-upload them.

Can my school subscribe even if it's not in the UK?

Yes, of course. We have hundreds of schools around the world using our platform. Basic maths, after all, is important to every learner no matter where you live.

What will happen at the end of my trial?

At the end of your trial, your access to NumBots will simply terminate and you will not be charged. All pupil data will automatically be deleted 90 days following expiry of your trial, if the school does not choose to subscribe during that period. Should you choose to subscribe within 90 days of your trial expiring, no data or pupil progress will be lost and you and your pupils can carry on accessing NumBots using the same login details.

How can I purchase a subscription of NumBots?

Click on the Purchase Now button and follow the instructions. You will have the option to pay by credit card or to request an invoice for payment within 30 days.
